Is it me or has there been a huge increase in tyre prices over the last few months. Back in June I bought two tyres for my car, 245/45/18 Dunlop SP9000 for under £90 each. Need two more and have been quoted well over £110 ea:eek: seems a big increase to me, or are they normally more expensive in the winter.

There is a huge demand for tyres in China as the population embraces car ownership. This is pushing up global rubber prices.

Just like oil, pork bellies and frozen orange juice.

Just put 4x Dunlops Sportmaxx 245/45/R18 100Y on the W220.....£88.00 each+VAT....

It pays to shop around. Alot.

They seem pretty stable in the high end of the market. Just paid £580 for mine fitted. No difference to what I would usually pay.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that has to be the most expensive tyre one can get for a Merc...... lucky you didnt need 4....:bannana:

Strong Euro is mostly to blame for the price increases!

Did you get them from Martin ?

Although some suppliers may generally be cheaper than others, when it comes to buying, it pays to shop around.
Some warehouses may buy lots of Continental in one size but don't have great Michelin prices. Some may have runout tyres in certain load indices etc..

Use that list as a guide - it's the best list in the UK :)
Hmm.. just thought about a price comparison site for tyres..

No - he couldn't get any stock. His fitters aren't exactly gentle either - they tossed my £100 centre caps on the ground which I was a bit miffed about  .

My Maserati dealer matched the cheapest price I could find :) .

Shop around - I got a puncture last night, needed to replace the back two anyway, chose to drive home from Solihull on the space saver rather than pay 180quid per tyre at kwik fit for Michelins, my local mobile fitter is doing two Dunlops for £82 each.

At the lower end of the market - I just got 4 Goodyear GT2s 175/65/14 for the wife's Astra for .... £125.81 fully fitted, well pleased. Local tyre centre, car's back in tomorrow, for front pads and discs at £50 fitted (was expecting this and planning to do myself, but at that price it's hard to refuse). They were vey friendly/helpful, if they are going to to prices like that I'll make sure I pay cash.
