My Merc, a 1889 190 2lts petrol (gas) has developped a problem. Start firs touch when cold, but when reaching working temperature, it wont restart or more accurate, id reluctant, unless the engine is cranked for long minutes. Seems that is starving of fuel, any suggestions, please. Local mechanics (London, UK) including Official Merc mechanics, can't find or even diagnose the fault.

Any suggestiosn, please?

Anyone knows a good mechanic in the Great London area?

It could be the main ignition relay.

This was a problem with 1990-1994 Honda Accords, the solder in the relay was breaking up and when hot would open up, preventing the engine from starting.

I know it's not a Honda but............... you never know?

I had that very problem with the TVR - absolute BUGGER to trace, and only discovered it when I ripped out the immobiliser [in frustration], and once discovered I was even more frustrated

Check three things:

Spark, yes/no/weak.
Fuel pressure too low causing boiling when hot.
Air leaks into manifold.

My guess says fuel pressure caused by fuel pump.
