Sue just came across a W203 steering wheel from a 2004 C class - will it fit her W209 (I know the W209 and W203 share a lot of common parts)? No paddles, heat etc.

No. The buttons are different for the volume up/down etc.

A 209 steering wheel wont be too expensive. If yours is worn contact Royal Steering Wheels who can do you a custom retrim with fancy leather, thicker at the sides etc....

This cost around £150 approx 3-4 years ago. They do an exchange service so you won't be without a wheel.

Thanks for the fast reply. The buttons and airbag on ours are OK - would I be able to "pick and mix" between the 2 wheels (if you see what I mean!)? It's on for about £50

Royal say they can't retrim ours - no leather with correct colour. Cheapest new I have found is over £400!

Try emailing Kris Dunlop at HSWOnline. [email protected]

His business is breaking CLKs :)

Unfortunately you cannot mix and match with the W203 wheel.

If you wanted an upgrade this may be suitable? Tuning Abgeflach Leather Steering Wheel for Mercedes W211,W463,W209,R230 Grey | eBay
Not doubting your advice, but wouldn't the buttons and airbag on a W203 (car is same year) be wired the same, even though the buttons look different (albeit doing the same function)

Cheers

Sorry I’m not sure I’ve never tried

Just get some dye from gliptone, furniture-clinic or wherever. Easy job!

You might even be able to use my order number @ gliptone to avoid having to send a sample as I had dye made for exactly the same wheel about 6 months ago…

Are you sure your current steering wheel can't be cleaned and the leather conditioned/restored? There are quite a few good leather treatment products out there and leather can be restored and dyed.

I used this company's products to repair a small area of damage to the steering wheel:

Bought their kit off Amazon. A bit pricey, but their products came highly recommended in reviews.
