v230 gearbox problem

Hello, my automatic transmission indicator lamp has just come on.The car is stuck in third gear.I checked the owners manual and it says it may be an electrical problem.?Before this happened the car ran rather warm in a traffic jam but it did not overheat.Please could someone give me some advice.Thanks Graham.

Your gearbox has gone into 'limp home mode'. You need to take it to a dealer (or good independent) and get the fault codes read.

Gearbox problem 2

The gear box seems to have sorted itself out.This morning it seems to be fully operational with no lights showing.I have booked it into my mechanic to change gearbox fluid etc on Monday.Fingers crossed

Turning off (ignition off) and back on will often do a reset if it's only an intermittent problem. The fault codes should indicate what's going on.

Funny thing are gearboxes, my 129 locked up into 2nd 3 times in the 14 months that I had it sometimes its not worth chasing a fault,, just turn off and back on and the fault has gone
