V8 Badges

Apparently the Germans like their cars de-badged, so apart from the MB propeller, nothing at all.

It is BMW who have the propeller logo , WE have the Three Pointed Star , each point of which symbolises the supremacy of Mercedes-Benz engines on land , at sea , and in the air .

V6 badges are available. The '32 AMG's have V6 Kompressor on the front wings.

I want a V8 badge that matches the V8 logo on the sill plates.

It would look super tacky ...

You have to keep the OEM style on the outside.

Do all V8 models have these sill plates?

Yep.

The BMW is a propeller?
But it looks like a quadrant polished buffer off a GWR locomotive.

I thought the MB star was based on an arrow fletching or barbed head.

For what it's worth.

These so called V8 badges look no different to me than 20V on the back of the Passat.

What I don't get though is why one would want a £2.50 look alike piece of crap on his Mercedes-Benz. If I ever were after one of these, OEM badge would be my choice.

IIRC the star came from Daimler, and the 3 points represented land, sea, and air (where their engines were used).

For what it's worth, I didn't go ahead with one. I'm happy enough knowing I've got a V8 under the hood.

Surely not under the 'hood' - in a cabriolet like yours that would mean a mid-engine conversion :D

Yeah I had it moved to the back seat. I like the fumes! It's almost like solvent abuse!

No need to rant , they are the same V8 badges as on the V8 Kompressor .

They aren't ' so called ' , they do in fact read ' V8 ' , not ' V7 ' or ' V9 ' ....

Not crap , but OEM ;)

You never mentioned where you got your badges from and your first post in the thread read:

Done it . Replace the Avantgarde badges with them , less is more.
Based on that I assumed you went with fake crappy Chinese replicas from Hong Kong instead of genuine MB product.

You didn't, right?

whats the bets the official MB ones are made in the same crappy factory in china ;)

I got genuine oem one's on my E55 and compared them to some cheap ones from ebay and can honestly say there was hardly any difference in them - maybe a little more rough on the edges.

Each to their own, if you like the look of them then get them don't worry too much about the world.
