V8 Cylinder numbers

Sorry - this is a very dumb question. How are the cylinders numbered on a V8. (CLK55AMG). I have a P0304 fault but have no idea which side is No4.
Very embarrassing.

Is this not mentioned in the manual because it should be ?

Standing at the front of the engine No 4 is left rear, good luck

Thanks - tried the manual, I should have guessed No 4 would be at the back!
