Regular followers of this thread may recall how happy I was with the CL500

This morning, there was a nasty grinding noise when I turned the wheel.

Took it back to the garage and they diagnosed ball joints.

It's being fixed as we speak, no hassle, no quibbling. Even have an A class loaner.

But, is this something they should have picked up on a PDI? It's not a Main Dealer, they are a well known local specialist.
 
Well, I guess a PDI MIGHT have picked it up. However, when my lower ball joints went on my C200 earlier this year, it was quite sudden - one minute it was ok then all of a sudden it started making a skwarking noise and wouldn't stop until the joints were replaced. As the dealer is sorting it out I don't think I'd worry too much.
