Hi, I am due to get another Merc in september and i am going to be selling my present car in a few weeks.

I would be grateful if someone who has more knowledge than me can give me a rough idea of what i might get, and also if anyone could share experiences of using eBay motors to sell.

It is a 'V' reg '99 C250 TurboDiesel Elegance in dark/Royal Blue. It is in great condition but has covered 108,000 although it has full service history, with only the latest being done at a non MB dealership. It has a stone chip on the roof that has blistered, so i am having the full reoof resprayed before sale.

It has 6 months tax and i will probably put 12 months MOT on it also.

It has had 2 owners, me and before that my father-in-law who had it from new.

Everything works ( aircon serviced last summer) and it drives like new.

Sorry to ask a question straight from the off, but thanks for reading.

Regards,

Neil

No substitute for checking auto trader and e-bay to see what they're going for.

As I was looking for a 202 estate earlier this summer I'm fairly familiar with values, and for one like yours I would say probably around £4500 minus the premium for an estate, so £3500-£4000 depending on condition. Unless you've got a really good deal on the roof (no more than £150) it's a waste of money - you won't get your money back.

Personally I would go with auto trader or E&M, e-bay seems to have a lot of bottom fishers and no-shows, though as far as advertising your goes car it works really well.

Hi, thanks for the responses.

I have had a quote of £180 for the roof, and was thinking of asking in the region of £4000 but if that is too much then I will have to rethink.

Thanks again,

Neil

Well the mileage ajusted parkers is a bit higher..

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate Parker's
C250 TD Elegance 5d Tip Auto 1999/V

Mileage: 108 ,000 miles

Original Price £ 30506

Private Good £ 5465
Private Poor £ 3440
Part Exchange £ 4440

Five and a half looks a bit toppy to me!

Depends how quickly you want to sell it, try £4250 and see if you get any bites.

I paid £4k for my '97 model but it had 85kmiles and had quite a few extras (and a lot less rust than some of the newer ones I viewed.)

Wisebuyers price:

Private Good: £5,149
Private Average: £4,359
Private Poor: £3,359
Part Exchange: £4,679
Trade: £4,465

What sort of condition is the rest of the car, especially regarding rust in the common areas?

Hi, thanks for all the replies.

I have noticed while cleaning that inside a couple of the wheel arches there are signs of rust, so I will get those sprayed as well, actually when I went to get a price for them the bodywork bloke (its a good garage I have used them in years gone by) said he would leave the roof as it wasn't bad enough to warrant doing the full thing, just to treat it and touch it up myself.

Hi Dieselman, the rest of the car is fine, it is a light trim but i have two kids, so that is to be valeted before sale, but no burns, rips etc.

Thanks again to you all.

Neil
