Has anyone actually replaced one of these on an R230?? I've just done mine on my 2003 SL & although the pump works, the roof still won't lower. After checking with the diagnostics, there are no other faults!

Am I missing something, it doesn't seem to need any bleeding & feels like it's not primed but I'm not sure!?!

The replacement is brand new original MB part 230 8000 348

SL VIN: WDB2304742F027953

The previous owner had a problem with the central locking system, by a stroke of genius (by advice from another idiot

Ok the plot thickens.........
So we don't actually know if the pump was faulty then?

The previous owner had a problem with the central locking system, by a stroke of genius (advice from another idiot) he tapped with a hammer to try & get this working. Two mistakes; first he didn't have a clue that this was the vario pump, second, he hammered too hard!!!

So it was actually fecked by an idiot? And before the hammer was involved the roof worked?????

My apologies for the multiple posts to the thread by mistake!

So he mistakenly hit the pump instead of the pump is what you're saying ?
And he thought that by hitting the pump the central locking would start working?
Really??????

Yes the pump was checked by the Mercedes tech & confirmed faulty.

Yes.

Actually the mechanism below the pump was faulty at the time. A new part was then fitted & the central locking works perfectly.

Ok.

As no-one replied actually replacing the pump; does anyone know how to add fluid & bleed the system??

Has anyone ever topped up the hydraulic fluid or bleed the system??

I got the pump working at first attempt today!

There is no need for additional fluid. The pump was delivered with the relief valve not tightened & so could not build pressure for the system to work.

After tightening, the system worked perfectly

Just thought I'd share.

Have a great weekend!

Sorry didn't check back before!

Yes that document helped massively for me.

Topping up fluid is with a syringe and pipe through one of the allen key holes into the tank. Very easy to do.
