Hi all,
So I have a W168 A160 that is experiencing a few issues and would love some advice on how to resove them, if at all possible:

1: Instrument cluster:
1a: Centre digital display for trip counter, gear position etc not lighting up ( I have tried adjusting brightness, no luck)
1b: Engine diagnostic indicator permanently on.
1c: Engine oil level warning permanently on (oil level is good, though)

2: Gearbox seems stuck in the dreaded F mode, or 2nd gear only, I assume. It was changing gears ok-ish until recently.

If anyone could offer advice on the above issues, I would be most appreciative.
Thanking you

Wow,not one response or reply after a month!! Sad!

1a: The center digital display issue may be due to a faulty display unit or a connection problem. You may need to have it inspected by a mechanic or Mercedes specialist.

1b: The engine diagnostic indicator being permanently on suggests there's a fault code stored in the engine control module (ECM). You should get a diagnostic scan to identify the specific issue causing the warning.

1c: If the oil level is fine, but the oil level warning is on, it could be a faulty oil level sensor. Have it checked and replaced if needed.

2: If your gearbox is stuck in a lower gear, it could be due to various reasons, including a transmission control module (TCM) issue, a sensor problem, or a mechanical issue. A diagnostic scan is essential to pinpoint the exact cause of the transmission problem.

In all cases, consulting a qualified mechanic or Mercedes specialist for a proper diagnosis and repair is advisable to ensure these issues are resolved correctly.
