I had to have the alarm system disabled due to frequent nuisance tripping, by a reputable independent Mercedes garage, as the Main Dealer was too busy to carry out emergency work.
Car has since been with the Main Dealer twice [2 days each time] had new rear SAM fitted - -however they are now unable to enable the system. Informed me that Germany say that this type of work should not be carried out by the dealers! End result is car currently cannot be enabled. The MB SCN diagnostic clrearly states that all is in place and vehicle can be re-enabled. BUT main dealer says that they are unable to do the work.
Obviously there is no way that independent garaged can log on to the Stuttgart diagnostic so does ANYONE out there have a suggestion as to how I might have the vehicle re-activated.
Sorry this is long winded - and thank you for reading it.

I believe indies can log into the system if they have a genuine STAR system and pay the monthly subs.

Where are you located?

I would say the problem is the mechanic. if the computer said yes. ask for someone with more experience to have a look

Alarm System

Located just North of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
I also feel that the staff at the Main Dealer are perhaps not knowledgeable enough. Certainly got the impression that the independent guys [who wroked at the main dealer for many years] both knew what they were talking about.
Whilst they have the genuine MB software, they are unable to log on to Germany.

If I were in your position, I would 'cut my losses' in terms of time/money/grief and get a meeting set with Alfie/Richard at Comand Online Ltd

They have all the genuine Star stuff and will no doubt be able to help in some way.
HTH.
