I would be very interested to know which insurance companies and/or brokers members use for very modified car insurance.

I’m interested in a car which has been very professionally tuned and delivers more than 70% more than when it left the factory. Visually it is completely standard - inside and out - and so is a sleeper.

All suggestions of insurance companies and/or brokers - and experience of insuring similar cars - would be very much appreciated.

Mine's with LV and that's declaring literally everything,
Re-map, wheels, lowered, spoiler, interior and exterior changes. Even though it went up this year (May) still don't think it's to bad. 🙂👍
Worth a try, for a sleeper.

A Plan in Thatcham.. Specialists in modified/kitcars/performance/classics.. I use them, as does a friend with custom built/ heavily modified cars.. very competitive quotes.

Both the above, I'm with LV now with declared map, wheel colour change and panamerica grille and I've used A plan in the past to insure the cobra but also try classic line in Hinckley.

+1 for LV. My Alfa is with LV. With engine, exhaust, transmission, brakes, interior, suspension mods etc all declared came out less Than £300 for 3000 miles.

Brabus smart.

Thank you for all the suggestions and so quickly too, it’s much appreciated this is the best forum for a reason!

I did a quote with Adrian Flux last night and requested a call back this morning. They checked the details and the only thing which they asked for in addition was information about other cars I insure.

They wanted to know the make and model and the engine sizes for each, so they could tell the underwriters. They spoke to the underwriters and came back with two revised quotes there and then.

One was 51% of the online quote - and that was to mirror NCB on another car - and the other was 44% - and that was if I transfer NCB from another car. All mods declared. Well worth the call back.

The less expensive of the two was an LV subsidiary, the other I hadn’t heard of. I will probably get some more quotes but I have enough information to decide whether to buy the car or not now.

My concern was that insuring it would be an absolute nightmare, and with Adrian Flux at least it doesn’t seem to be, in fact the premium seems fairly reasonable considering what it’s had done to it.

Thanks all, and please do keep any further suggestions coming, they’re all much appreciated.

And...............??
and before you say it, my Meerschaum has gone out and the lens has dropped out me magnifying glass. And it's too hot for a deerstalker and cloak.
I play my cards close to my chest so I don’t plan to say too much on the forum, but that said Ant did convince me to share more about another car a while back, so maybe he’ll bribe me to spill the beans with promises of fajitas or boiled eggs 😁

It wasn’t the car I mentioned on Sunday. It’s on-brand for this forum. It’s a rare beast, but not as rare as the unicorn that is the Mercedes-AMG ForFour Black Series AMG Sport Plus Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi facelift powered by Brabus.

Surely it must be this one. This one has Navi as well. Probably.

As Roy Walker would say: it’s good, but it’s not right! 😁

I’ll see how I feel when I collect it - I’m having a few things perfected and a service performed first - so it will probably be a week or so away at least - but I probably won’t say much about it.

I believe someone has let it slip about my 125 Navi.

I'm thinking Mr Dazzler may have been influenced by the EV threads, and gone for a heavily modified Milk Float conversion.??
😁

Roy Walker would say: it’s good, but you couldn’t be more wrong if you tried. Even if you were playing a game of “saying the complete opposite” you still couldn’t be opposite enough.

Actually I have never heard him say that on Catchphrase but that’s probably what he would have said. 😁

Another vote here for A Plan Rob, I'm actually still with them on the unmodified S Class but they were one of the few who would touch that E63 "Taxi" when I owned and messed about with it. A lot. :)

It was running c900bhp with over 1,000ft/lbs when I sold it. All mods were fully declared, some on a weekly basis at the time, but this didn't phase A Plan at all. The only thing they wouldn't cover was the speed trial things at Terminal Velocity meetings so I had to risk those...

Incidentally, it was originally insured with Privilege who, whilst being reasonably competitive, refused to cover any increase in power over 21%. At least I think that was the figure, can't recall now...

Can we play guess who?

How many cylinders or what engine size or how much hp?:D
