very old tracker.... renew it?

Having just picked up a W124 estate today, I've been going through the bundle of old receipts etc and found a Tracker subscription.....from 1996!!!
It was a one off payment not an annual subscription. ( Surely this couldn't still be covered??!)

Have I got a hope in hell of renewing something this old if needed? The alarm system on the car isn't working properly.

Interesting this, iv had my car for about a year and a half and i too was looking through the paperwork and found its got a tracker on it, by the actual company called "Tracker". I cant remeber the exact date but from the top of my head it was about 2007 (so not as far back as yours) but i too was thinking if there was any point in calling Tracker and asking them to check if the system is still on the car.

When i bought the cra there was no mention from the previous owner that it had a tracker on it, so he probably didnt even realise it.

I bought a new W202 in 1998 and paid a on off fee for the Tracker. If my memory serves me right the fee covered 10 years

One consideration should be whether the battery backup in the tracker device itself is still fit for purpose. If the car battery is disconnected then the tracker may not work (for long). Tracker should be able to advise.

As a tracker installer. I can say that tracker wouldnt entertain reactivating this tracker. As said above it has been out of commission for so long the battery inside would be dead.

In the long run it would just be cheaper and easier to put a new one on it if needed.

Tracker have a good deal on at the moment for the Monitor product at £169 installed inc vat. The Subscription for 12 months at £149 is unchanged.

No, but every Tracker retailer is offering it (judging from search results) so I assumed that it was a Tracker initiative.

Normally if you have a very old tracker they will do a deal to upgrade to the lastest ones with online maps etc..

I think I paid £99 to upgrade and £360 for 3 years membership... they werent offering lifetime membership on this tracker.
