Very very rare

As kits go that's a good effort.

Still wouldn't be seen in it though, it's like wearing a fake watch. .........grabs popcorn.

That is a very good effort. Not really for me tho.

Maybe I'm being thick but I can't figure out what it's based on.

Terribly ancient and crusty jap dashboard gives the game away.

Ashamed to say it, but it's a late '90s Celica convertible - we had one. The OH loved it.

Utterly reliable though which we replaced with a W208 CLK convertible - which she disliked and was soon got rid of.

I think it's an enormous challenge and it must be very satisfying to build. I know I would have enjoyed it very much.

Said that... buying a ready-made one is like buying a built Lego kit... totally pointless :D

And I suppose that those who build these 'clone' cars have the same issue as avid Lego builders - once they have finished enjoying their creation, what do you do with it....?

it's like wearing a fake watch. .........grabs popcorn.

I have better things to spend my money on, so why not just buy a fake one and save your money. I can afford to buy a real one, just prefer wearing a fake......honestly :wallbash::wallbash:

Want to share the popcorn??:D

If you pay £50 for a clone of a £5,000 watch then you have paid 1% and a small amount at that - so even if you have nothing of value to show for your fifty quid you can call still it 'good fun'.

If you pay £20k for a clone of a £130k car then you have paid a staggering 15% and an eye-watering amount in absolute terms - especially given that you have absolutely nothing of value to show for it.... not fun :(

Does the current owner hand over the pair of socks he stuffs down the front of his trousers to the new owner too?

This reminded me of what a rather 'large' friend of mine used to do in such situations.... he'd point at his large belly and say: "You have no idea much this cost me... but does it have any value?'

Many people find it difficult to accept that just because they spent a lot of time and money on something does not mean it has any value

An 'Aston Martin' with the performance of a fifteen-year-old Toyota Celica for £20K. Ideal for impressing chip shop queues; what's not to like...

Absolute shed!
