vito 110 side and tail light issues

Hi all having an issue with my lights and hoping you can help, side and tail lights work fine when you select side on the stalk, then when you select dipped the passenger and passenger tail go out, any ideas?

Had all sorts of lighting problems with the Viano particularly brake lights which would go out after briefly lighting. Dealer said it could be the SAM unit ( Signal Acquisition Module) which processes the decision signal. They offered a test at £80plus to find out or simply replace the unit at, if memory is right, about £300. Went for the replacement which turned out to be right or at least they said it was but no trouble since.
