I thinking of putting better bigger brakes on , do the c63 calipers and discs go on a vito w639 2012

May I ask why are you considering this?AI re the current brakes ineffective?

Also, the cost of brake discs and pads for the C63 etc can be very expensive.

Braking effectiveness is ultimately determined by the grip of the tyres on the road, plus, if you modify the brakes for larger calipers and discs your current wheels are unlikely to fit so they will likely need replacing along with the tyres.

You would also need to inform your insurance company who may increase the premium or, in some cases decline cover as it may be classed as a performance modification.

To not inform them could also void your cover 👍

Hmm....he missed a few valid point there.....firstly its not just about friction.....but leverage.....the further more of the disc is away from the hub centre the more stopping leverage the caliper has over the tyre. Also have bigger brakes with upgraded matching calipers might not stop you faster in an emergency......but they will give you much better feel at the pedal with less travel and can slow you faster up until you reach the limit of the tyre.....or, far more likely these days, the limit set by the ABS before it backs off the pressure to avoid locking up.. And as he said under heavy loads and abuse they wont fade as fast. Bigger more powerful versions of cars don't just have bigger brakes for the fun of it!!......and of course above all else....they look GREAT!!

Of course for every google page there is an equal and opposite google page!!!

He also does not mention extra unsprung weight and it's gyroscopic effect and the extra work the suspension/damping has to do.

Admittedly not a bigger deal on a car than on a motorcycle , and if you are going full carbon you will be losing a fair bit of weight where it matters.

I've seen a couple of disc & caliper upgrades iirc Zenman might have used C63 discs & Calipers as an upgrade but you will need adapters for them to work plus it's not a cheap upgrade neither for calipers, discs or pads. But anything is doable depending how determined you are..
