Hi,
I have an 06 Vito 111 Long. Shortly after having its final in warranty service (4 weeks) When driving the van at above 3000 RPM the engine management light came on and stays on until you switch off, restart and then when you need torque or go above 3000 RPM it comes on again.
I had it coupled to an independant dealer diagnostic computer today who found that on the last service the Mercedes tech had left the air filter sensor uncoupled which had then laid across the turbo and melted the insulation on the wires.
It is 4 months since it was serviced and I don't think I will successsfully argue that this was their fault even though I dont touch the engine.
I have taken the melted insulation off the wires and taped them up, reconnecting the sensor.
I thrashed it down the road and hey preston, the light comes on again and limits the engine.
Now it is 3 1/2 year old and has only done 41k. As such it has never had a fuel filter change.
Could it be that the filter is clogged, starving the engine of diesel and causing the management light to come on or something more sinister?
Cheers
Ian
