53 plate ML270 inspiration
Hi all I'm selling my ml270 and I'm looking for a vito automatic I'm not sure to get a van or dualiner , I know I can get the cost down a lot,if I get the vito van and fit rear seats myself ,but what I want to know is if I get a vito / v class seats with the fixings is there bolt holes / fixings in the rear floor underneath the ply flooring ready to take these seats also any tips on what to look for its the w369 I'm thinking of getting thanks steve

There are no fixings hidden under the floor. There was a thread recently (in the last week) of a member who added seats. If you can't find it, zenman63 did a thread on it a while back. Try search for "vito seats" as there aren't many Vito threads to check through.

As for buying, later than 2006 is galvanised so no rust on the body. The Comfort (short model) does not have a spare wheel. The V6s are always in demand and seem to hold their value well. Watch when buying used because some new buyers, normally companies and such who did a lot of town driving, opted for a low ratio axle so they maxed out at about 70mph; they can also be speed limited which can be removed with STAR developer mode, I believe.

EDIT: I would add that I opted for the single tailgate type rear door rather than twin opening barn doors. Very useful for shade or shelter when loading even though it needs marginally more space to open.

Don't mean to contradict you on purpose ^^ but I know of a 2012 Vito with rust and to make it worse Mercedes refused to rectify it under warranty, they said it was stone chip damage.... On the tailgate!!!!!!

Rust isn't common on galvanised 639s but I have seen occasional reports of it on tailgates ... usually from the chrome trim above the numberplate (if fitted) being over-tightened and damaging the paint underneath, or a leaking seal round the rear wiper shaft. Definitely something to check for, but not a reason to avoid the 639 IMHO. I've owned ours for 8 years now and have only had minor issues with it:

- Window regulators replaced under warranty (common issue)
- Crankshaft position sensor failed (known issue with the V6 - it was fixed under recall for all M-B models apart from the 639 )
- Differential pressure sensor failed (not common, only engines with DPF have this)
- Broken rear spring (not common)

Thanks all for your advice here is a link to one that I want to buy he told me he wants about £6500 but his wife does not know now if she wants to sell it or not and its only about 20 miles from me not sure what year it is though

And as for buying a van and adding seats I think I will give it a miss

The 111 had its power upped to 116bhp in 2007 so hardly going to set the world alight but if you find that underpowered, a plug-in tuning chip costs about £300. Can't help with valuation; you'll have to do some research. A bit remiss of the owner not to state the year….or could be deliberate if it is an early w639. It certainly doesn't have "all the extras" but being auto with aircon is good in my view as it is unlikely to have the low ratio axle. The auto box and captain's seats up front are extras, the rest is standard I believe.
What the sellers wife wants and what it is worth may be different things but your research should shed light on that.

Just thought of another couple of things to look for. With the engine running, if fumes or the smell of diesel are getting into the cab, then an injector is leaking. Not common but can happen. The side doors can rattle on the move if out of adjustment or needing new rollers which I don't think are expensive.

That one is a 'compact' which is the smallest size. The 'long' is only slightly bigger and is more practical IMHO - it has the same wheelbase but is extended behind the back axle, giving room for a normal spare wheel carrier slung underneath. As GVM said, a compact in 'comfort' spec (factory interior lining panels, rear speakers etc.) has no spare wheel. In basic spec the spare is mounted on a bracket inside the back of the van. Long and extra long (long wheelbase) models all have a spare mounted under the van.

The best model for power & economy is the 115 btw - consumption figures are identical to the 111. The 109 (lowest power) is the worst ... that had a lower ratio back axle.

Right I've got you thanks for that anyway I'm gutted they have decided not to sell it the guy works for Mercedes and has spent a bit on it now his wife has had second wind and wants to keep it I've got my eye on a few more but their further away plus I don't seem to get reply's of them there's a few on a site called LOOT who never reply I've found this one Vito Sport-X Dualiner LWB Private Plate 2007 | Vans, Trucks & Plant

But For the money and mileage it some how seems to good to be true I've had a reply of this van which makes me think even more this just don't sound right if any of you want to see the reply I will be happy to PM it

Yes that looks like a scam - far too cheap.

Defiantly a scam there's loads out there she only wants me to give her my ebay ID so she can set up as a private auction and then wants me to pay before she delivers the van really can't think there's people out there who would fall for this

Hi all I've taken your advice and bought a 2009 115CDI LWB but I did opt for the automatic and I want to change the diff oil as there is a little diff noise can anybody advise on what oil and maybe a good additive it doesn't sound like a bearing it's almost deffinatly the gears making a very light rumble so any advice would be very much appreciated thanks steve.
PS I will post some pics soon when I have time as I am intending to make a day van out of it thanks
