Hi everyone

I have bought a Feb 2020 Vito Tourer XLWB 9 Seater and I want to fit an Espar D2L diesel heater. The Vito is a nine seater with a passenger bench seat (the space underneath is quite small). Has anyone happened to fit a diesel heater in a Vito Tourer by any chance? I have to add that I regularly carry up to seven passengers plus lots of luggage in the large boot area so mounting anywhere in the passenger area is a no-go sadly.

Many thanks for your help in advance :D

Melvin

Being a factory certified fuel fired heater & install shop (Webasto & Espar) my first thoughts go to inside or under the front passenger seat box.
That by the way is the most popular siting for Sprinters.
In many SUV's we fit it close to the inner front passenger seat frame (a sort of dead zone in the car if space is needed .
Then of course in the ultimo, there is the exterior mounted (inside a protective box) venting heated air into the passenger occupancy area with or without air return.
Have done that a lot with ex Mil vehicles like Pinzgauers & Volvo c303 rigs & county library vans to name a few .

Thank you for your reply. The minibus is booked into my local electrical installer that installs Webasto and Espar diesel heaters. He has looked at the space available and there is almost nowhere to fit it. There is a space under the passenger seat (it is a bench seat) but it is tight. We will see next Tuesday if it is possible to fit it.

Did you get anywhere with this? I'm about to embark on the same with my Vito Tourer W447. The drivers seat houses the primary battery and stop-start battery, so no space there, and the passenger seat has the adblue tank under it. Thanks!

Morning RMercC. Yes I had success (eventually). I had the Eberspacher Airtronic S2 D2L diesel heater fitted by Ribblesdale Electrics in Preston, Lancashire back in late August. It was a difficult job but they succeeded eventually. They placed the heater under the front passenger seat (my bus is a nine seater so has the two passenger seats up front). The cost around around £1350 fitted. I have tried it out and 18°c seems to be the perfect temperature to keep my extra long wheelbase bus warm. I also have a 2000W power inverter with a hefty leisure battery fitted and it just about coped with running the heating all night alongside my electric cooler which was on its lowest setting.

I have attached some photos to give you an idea as to where exactly it goes. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply. On my 2016 W447 I have the Adblue tank under there. I suspect your installers either moved that tank, or managed to get the exhaust and intake through the small gap just between the Adblue and diesel tanks. I just need to decide whether to try to do the same or maybe move the stop-start battery to the passenger side to make space for the heater under the drivers seat.

Now there's a good question. I suspect that they did not move any of the tanks so perhaps they fitted it between them both. Keep me posted and let me know how you get on. P.S. I find 17°c a comfortable temperature overnight :-)

Hi looking to do the same myself as converting my w447 crew cab 2016 to camper did you have any success ? Cheers
