Hi All,

I know that there are endless threads for this topic but I just wanted to ask a couple of simple questions. ( i hope:wallbash: )

I have a 1994 320ce and have just purchased a set of 17" AMG monoblock (OE I think)

I have put them on the car with the origional 8 hole bolts and all seems fine but i want to replace the bolts with some new ones and lockers.

i have had a look on auction sites etc and they all seem to give different information on what type of bolt can / should be used.:wallbash::wallbash:

All i want is a new set of bolts! so questions are. which type do i need and will the existing bolts be Okay for now?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Be careful buying non oem bolts from eBay. A lot of them say they are suitable for our cars, but are not radius head bolts but tapered. Try and get a set of oem bolts if you can although they are more expensive.

Were your original wheels steel or alloys? The bolts for alloys are usually longer. As long as the existing bolts are screwed far enough into the hub, you should be fine for now.

Edit.......just checking you will need bolt pack 1 or 1L if you want locking bolts as well. You can see the sizes needed on the link below.

You'll need M12 x 1.5 bolt thread.

Your existing bolts are fine unless the head sticks out or too deep to your liking and you want them flushed, then you need to measure and search for correct lengths

W124s came in various head type, usually long head or double headed type for alloys which are NLA , but short heads are fine just not flushed on the face of the alloy. Normally some used ones on german if eBay.

Many Thanks,

The origional wheels are 8 hole alloys so the bolts should be ok.

So am I looking for radius head bolts? whats the difference?

^ Tapered bolts will tighten up then go slack when you set off. Very dangerous as I found to my cost one time.

More info added in my post above.

See different types of wheel bolts. bolt1 - tapered/conical , bolt 2 Yours - radius/ball seat , bolt 3 - flat

AFAIK, most MB car alloys are radius/ball seat type.
