w124 300-24v ce, rare sportline model

Looks great ... i wonder what causes it to stall though ...

Wonder if it would be simple fix or a second mortgage job ......

Nice car though definately .... good find Mr Khan !! :)

Bet the plate is worth considerably more than the car......

Its an unusual combination the number plate......

Might be worth loads, but only to the right person, having two letters the same following each other can make it awkward to sell.....

The gearknob is a sportline model, but this was never officially fitted to this car, and the steering wheel is of a different design to that fitted to my sportline. Also trhe wheels are not the 8-hole type as fitted to my car originally.

Are we certain that it is a sportline? If I were a prospecive buyer I would ask for the VIN and have a look at the build spec before bidding.

Good points........i thought that about the steering wheel, but i don't know enough about the sportline series to comment really .....

Seems pricey for a car with problems and damage to me. And what makes it so rare anyway? It doesn't look like a sportline to me!! In fact it looks very standard.

Wheel design was the same back then for the sportline. The sportline ones where just wider. The sportline steering wheel was an extra. You'd have to check the Vin to see if it had sportline suspension.
And it has a cat so only 217bhp :(

If I recall correctly, cars before about august 1992 don't need a catalytic converter? for the MOT? I seem to remember another thread about this but can't seem to find it.

It is a Sportline (see below), I quite like the understated approach...worried that it has been standing for so long without basic maintainence/fluid changes. Wish it had cruise for those long blasts through France...

The seller is a dealer, so I doubt its a genuine as I hoped it was.

Not sure if its true to say this but a trader iisnt allowed to sell a car that would fail an MOT, surely if it stalls on acceleration it cant be roadworthy?
Does anyone know if thats true?

These two cars seem to be the only thing he has ever tried to sell. Maybe they are both privately owned and he just wants to offload them. Then again he could be a dealer...

He mentions in the Ad that it stalls, and thats because of it not having a service.
"Q: Under what circumstances does it stall? Do you know why?
A: No idea why, can be fine for 10min then get to a set of lights and as you accelerate it'll pull revs down and stall. "

From that Id say it could be almost anything, the same for the cost of repairing it too.

The listing quite clearly states the number is not included in the sale

Its sold by the looks of things, £3750 a bit over the top considering the problems I think.
