Hi All,

I have a query regarding the regarding the drive belt tensioner.

I am looking to change the drive belt on my 1991 300e and I have loosened the 19mm bolt on the tensioner about 1/2 turn as the manuals say and I have turned the tensioning nut anti clockwise but the belt is still in tension and cannot be taken off easily. I have followed the procedure in the manuals online but the tensioner isn't loosening at all, I have turned the tensioning nut all the way anti clockwise but still the belt is still tensioned? Is my tensioner broken and in need of replacement or would I need to un do the 19mm bolt more than 1/2 a turn?

Thanks,
Brian

Loosen the 19mm bolt another turn. If it's still holding the tensioner locked in place, turning the adjuster nut will not get it to move.
