Hi to my fellow MB enthusiasts. I have put on a set of 17" alloys with an offset of 28 on my 1994 w124 300d. As you can see from the image, the wheels are sticking out past the arch. I know that with some modification, these wheels fit onto the 124's. would the amg fender spacers be sufficient in my case or do I need to get the wings rolled and flared? If the spacers will suffice, please can you provide details of where to purchase and how to install? I know amg no longer supply these, but they can be custom made? Any help would be much appreciated.

What are the size (width) of these wheels?

Are the wheels the same front and rear or is the offset different?

Looking at the amount you are out makes me thing that something isnt right here as the wheels look like Carlos Fandango wheels as it stands.

wowzer there fella, you need more than fender spacers there!

I don't get whey they are sticking out so much, didn't know Areo 1's had that much of an aggressive ET. Are you running spacers??

Nope, no spacers. I'm a bit confused too why they're sticking out so much. :(
Could be emphasised by the way the car is slanting on the kerb, but they so stick out about an inch I would say.
Tyre sizes are 225/45/17 up front, 235/45/17 on the rears

Something defo not right here, especially the front, are they staggered, judging by your tyre selection this would seem to answer my question.

I've got a 9J rear on my 124 and it doesn't poke out no where near yours...also an 8J front..

I think we need a photo of the sizes stamped on the back of the wheel.

I assume there are no spacers stuck onto the hub from a previous fitment?

Cheers guys, I'll get a pic of the back of the wheels. Hope I can get this sorted.

Funny optical illusion in that second picture ... the front wheel looks significantly larger in diameter than the rear?!

i bet these wheels are w126 specific fitment. offset's to low!
show us the wheels marking on the back of the wheels, ie the wheel widths and et's!

I have a feeling there is done sort of hub spacers still on there from before which I did not notice when the wheels were being changed. The reason I say this is the 16" wheels which were on there before were pretty much flush with the outer arch.

Definitely W126 fitment wheels

http://www.w124performance.com/docs/mb/W124/wheel_install_17x8.0_ET28.pdf As said you need to double check the wheels actually are 17 x 8 ET28 but personally i'm not suprised they're miles away from fitting...

17 x 7.5 ET42 Monoblock II sit 5mm further out than the sport chassis 7" wide ET41 wheels
8" ET28 will sit 20mm further out than monoblock II or 26mm further out than the standard sport chassis wheels hence all the modifications listed in the pdf. Obviously MB went further with clearance mods than many get away with as they had to worry about things like a car full of Americans racing over Belgian pave to get to Mcdonalds before it closed instead of lowering the car on suspension so stiff it doesn't move [/tongue in cheek]

A w126 would have something like 17 x 8.5 ET11 or ET18 and sit upto 50mm further out than a 7" ET41

ETA Not gonna solve the problem you currently have but the AMG spacer kit is just short chunks of nylon bar stock, 30mm dia with a 9mm hole drilled through. Just google 30mm nylon bar

Ash:I'm not gonna bother replying on this thread or your pm,very smart of you doing what you did

Dash, I will announce it myself on this thread, I know you're respected on here, I'm just a newbie. Basically a few months back, dash offered me these wheels. I offered dash a slightly lower price than what he was asking for so he got upset and decided to to sell them to me. A few months down the line, I got in touch with dash through a friends account and purchased the wheels. I'm not proud of the way this was done, but that's the situation Dash is referring to. At least we have determined they are the correct fitment. :)

Ash:Had you asked once for a lower price once it would be fine, don't ask don't get as they say
Asking over and over the same thing is what pi$$ed me off
I weren't being greedy on the price of the wheels, even though I paid more for them myself
And no I don't like the way you it went

Sorry Dash, it was just a bit of friendly haggling. Anyway, I understand some people don't like to go down that route. So I've publicly apologised here, and again admit I'm not happy with the way it happened but I guess I got desperate trying to source a rare set of wheels. Your advice with the fitment would be greatly appreciated.

Wing spacers and an english wheel, they will fit just fine.
