W124 cruise control not working

'Fraid I can't help...but I am watching this thread since my CC doesn't work at all, though it used to a year or so ago...

I think the location depends on the model - under the bonnet, on the passenger side, you have a box of control units/ECUs. I think the rearmost one is the cruise control. I also think that on some models, it's located behind the kick panel in the passenger footwell

Thanks Andy, I'll hopefully have a look this weekend.

Racking up the motorway miles at the moment so it would be good to get it fixed..

Today tried the cruise again and it worked for most of the outward journey.. Coming back it would engage and then disengage sometimes instantly other times after a couple of seconds..

Searching the interweb it appears it could be one of a number of issues:

1. Vacuum pipe leaks
2. Throttle actuator on its way out
3. Dry joints in the Amp (which I have still to locate - a pic would be super)
4. Something amiss with the brake circuit (the brake light triggers the cruise to disengage)
5. Iffy speedo cable (which I have at low speeds)

Wheels & tyres are stock and in good order.

Any ideas as to which sequence the above should be tackled..

TIA

The OVP was brand new earlier this year.. The CC has intermittently surged since I've had the car, but has only recently gone on the blink.

I read that the 123 CC Amp is under the dash, don't know if 124s are the same - its a fairly generic area :) Any ideas as to which bits of trim need to come out..

I don't think the amp is under the passenger footwell so I suspect it's under the dash, driver's side

Mine has failed so I will resolder the connections & report back. If that fixes it it shouldn't take more than an hour in total to remove, resolder & refit

like i said on page 1 mine works upto 50 ish then judders and turns off if i keep trying to accelerate with it

but if i leave it at 45mph it works fine

any ideas because if it works then it cant be a dry joint

any info would be great

I have exactly the same problem on the same model. Was any progress ever made with this??
