w124 e280 misfire sorted

the misfire is now sorted. i changed the 3 ht leads and plugs... but it still misfired. i then changed the first coil, it then started and ran perfectly...also can anyone tell me what the gaps on the plugs should be.. thanks.

Usually 0.8mm BOSCH plugs normally come ready gapped IFAIK but worth checking. Easiest source for these "legacy model" plugs is MB dealers. I have also used the appropriate heat range NGK plugs and found them fine. Don't be tempted by the newer multi electrode plugs- old MBs don't like them.

For anyone with a petrol engined car that is misfiring, or even not doing so, a Flashtester would be a good cheap investment.

It will find faults before you become aware of them.

Link is dead. Do you mean one of those inline gadgets you put between the plug and the lead and it flashes every time the spark is sent ?
