I really, really miss my 250d. It was dog slow and as beat as hell but I loved it.

It needed a few quid spent on it (brakes, suspension, front wings, sunroof repair) which I would have been totally happy doing if it weren't for so many of them being nicked. Every time I parked in london I was half expecting it to be gone when I walked back! Didn't want to splash the cash for it to go missing a week later

I understand this dilemma as i don't have a garage so my car will always be on the street. I have had 2 aeriels snapped off, one drivers side window smashed by theives after contents of car and a few parking dings and scratches bythoughtless people. This (together with the fact my wife has to drive and park it) is another reason not to spend too much on the cosmetics!

Keep it. Love seeing a fully laden W124 estate cruising along so elegantly like a 4 wheeled Harley D

that will just be another BM banger in a few years time when the newer models are introduced.

It will be mighty hard by then to find a good 124 at a reasonable price, especially now that the 'classic centre' at Mercedes Germany are controlling the parts supply etc.

Thanks for that, that's why I got rid of them, they are too expensive to maintain now, plus fighting the rust and actually using them all year round was getting too expensive, yes folks, they do rust, and a lot.

So many cars, so little time...

...but your E36 is such a rare model. With the cult of AMG growing all the time, this grand-dad of the super-wagons is always going to be an attention-grabber. Surely there's no other 7-seater you could buy that boasts such a fantastic blend of retro charm, street-cred, power, old-fashioned build-quality and class?

Keep the car, how could you give up being the coolest Dad on the street?

All i'm saying is keep them biglips shut and keep the car!!

:D:D

If you do decide to sell though, now might be a good time... Mercedes Enthusiast has a spread featuring 2 E36 estates this month (loaned by 2 of the well-known specialists), and a good write-up. Have you seen it?

Only 7 were sold in the UK if I remember correctly. I have seen one in the metal, two in the magazine, another for sale a while ago and I've seen a picture of a green one (Tourmaline Green?) online somewhere as well. Is that yours, by any chance?

Tom please don't sell it, its such a great car. I remember when I saw your car, it had such a great aura about it, I was like wow im sitting in an E36 AMG! Trust me, no other car will feel the same.

Like someone mentioned, just start tidying the car up a little cosmetically. You dont have to go with a bodykit and all that, just sort out the parking dings, scratches and things like that.. its not a turd, so it CAN be polished up nicely ;)

Thanks Niks. It sounds better than it did back then as have had the suspension sorted!

Ok ok everyone. I get the message. I give in. Your work is done. Sounds like I am keeping the old girl.
