w124 estate wipers - random!

My brother has a s124 estate, 230TE and BOTH his front and rear wipers are coming on randomly together.

And seeing as the front is controlled on the stalk and the rear by a button, he is unsure what the problem is!

Any help greatly received!

Sounds like the wiper relay.

Not sure but are both wipers controlled by the same relay?

Either that or an electrical short to ground as the wiper switches will work by shorting to ground to trip the relay(s).

Anyone with a W124 estate can answer whether there are one or two relays?
