W124 Front wings

all the wings are the same (saloon, estate, coupe, convertible) but the turbodiesel models have inlets on the right side, but i would look for genuine parts only, the fit the quality and the rust treatement are much better

Hi guys.

Not sure if this is too late. I have a brand new, genine in the box w124 passenger side wing I no longer need. it's 100% brand new from mercedes in grangemouth (John R Weir). I purchased it 3 years ago and no longer need it.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Regards
Scott

wings

All the posts are interesting. I looked for 2 years for a pair of front wings. But last December came across a pair. Quick purchase and then, on the day they came only picked one up to find that both wings are aftermarket. Not a mark on them, as the chap that owned the car had them fitted and a really good spray job done in metallic green .Then his engine went down ,so it was scraped . The idea is now after I have read so many post on wings that I have made my mind up to cut out the rust on my original wings and use the aftermarket wing to repair them. Most scrap yards I contacted said ,well the one did ,that he had 30 - W124 come in his yard and all the wings are no good . I did contact a chap on ebay that will repair them, sand blast, and seal the rears of wings removed from cars in his scrap yard .

What is the going rate on wings these days? Is it a question of what someone will pay, or is there a sort of entry-level?

I'm after a drivers wing (for a petrol estate, although I know they're all the same with the one exception of the diesel vents), ideally genuine.

I fitted 2 front wings from ECP, offer at the time around £100 the pair delivered, fitted quite easily, good alignment and feel solid.

Yip, my wings are shot too, as usual I have taken out the rot treated the rust and metal filled and smoothed over.............the big Question is do I try and match up the 21 year old paint colour and paint the wings, or go for a full paint job or wrap........if so what colour. It's Berrol blue at the moment w124 estate.

The wings on my w124 were replaced in 2011 and are rusty already in several places, plus the paint finish is dire. Ive been quoted £525 to replace them (all inc with paint labour etc).
Any opinions on whether this is decent?

I couldn't be bothered trying to make pattern wings fit so I paid €220 for genuine ones from the dealer.

Seems too low to me. Genuine wings alone will cost that much for two. As an indication last year it cost me £440 for one new MB wing, fitting, painting, rustproofing and a repaint of the front bumper. Have to say the finish is really good so feel it was money well spent.
