W124 replacement bulbs

Hi all, its replacing bulb time for the 94 e220 coupe.

I need to sort the interior light, the centre and drivers side air vents, and one that goes behind the temperature control wheel.

I can find plenty of helpful threads which explain how to replace but not having much luck with what type of bulbs to get.

Just looked at some interior bulbs on autobulbsdirect and already I have a choice of either 3W or 10W and I dont have a clue which to get.

I'm reluctant to take a guess and end up with problems due to a bulb with too high a wattage.

If anyone has replaced the same could they please let me know which bulbs i'll need.

you are correct in not taking chances they are far too powerful.

Something like 0.4 watts and the bulb needs a frosted coating.

You really need the dealer parts dept and quote your full VIN.

there are 1.2 watts at Halfrauds but if you fit them you may find the controls get pretty warm after some time and there is a risk of plastic melting, so not recommeding. go for dealer 0.4 ones.

Get them from MB. They are not expensive and at least you will be sure they are the correct ones. Might be worth changing the ones in the instrument panel warning lights while you are doing this.

As KTH says you really need the frosted bulbs, however, i got some direct from Mercedes which weren't frosted as they didn't have any available - they're reasonably priced. They do feel warm to touch if the dimmer is on full, but i just turn the dimmer down slightly and they've been fine (no melting).

cool, thanks guys, glad i didnt go for the 10W option and melt everything !
I'll have a word with MB tomorrow if they're open.
Not looking forward to the temp control wheel one, sound like its a bit of a pain.

The bulbs in the centre console are easy to get at. Believe me if I can do it anyone can.
