Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help,
I have been trying to find the correct MB pt. no. for a pair of white side repeaters for a W124 Saloon but using the chassis number in the EPC it will just bring up the amber/orange ones.
Did the W124 indeed ever come with white side repeaters? I have heard that W202 ones fit, in which case i,ll just use the chassis number of one of my W202's.
Any information would gladly appreciated.
 
Hi there,

MB never did an OEM white side repeater for a w124 ... only the clear front indicators for the facelift.

You can get a non OEM white side repeater though , usually some on Ebay , fit is OK.
 
Try your dealer with A 1248202221-- £20-20 each . You can get cheaper from EUROCARPARTS I think.

edit:- got to disagree Howard-- got them on mine!

Thanks for the replies,
It is a facelift with the front indicators being white but the side repeaters are amber/orange, just thought i would update the look of it to be honest.
£20 ea is a bit steep when a replacement amber/orange one is only a fiver.

Hmmmmm ...

Fair enough , every w124 facelift i have ever seen has had clear fronts and coloured sides ....

Just thought that they would have come from the factory with clear sides if they were available.

Anyway , good news for Andy ...

The w202 ones are much more rounded than the w124 ones which are quite angular.

Hi Howard,

I think you might be thinking of facelift W202 ones, the original W202s (upto about late '97) still use the normal type that you find on all 124s, 201s etc.

Late model facelift W202s have a more rounded shape though as you say :)

1993-1995 W202 had amber indicator repeaters from the W124, 1995-1997 W202 had white/colourless indicators that were identical to the W124 items in all but colour that were designed for the W202. 1997-2000 W202s also had their own repeater lamp that was more rounded, this was shared with all other models but carries a 202 part number.

The 140 and the 129 also have 124 amber repeaters and 202 white repeaters.

On the Russian EPC I can find only a Japanese 124 that comes with white indicator repeaters, there is no mention on any others but oddly the white repeaters carry a 124 part number!

Unless you have owned your 124 from the factory and know the repeaters to be original I suggest that they may have been swapped since leaving the showroom. Howard may well be correct in his earlier statement!

The same indicator repeater is fitted to all levels of trim for the W202, and there was never an "avantgarde" trim level for the W202 :confused:

EDIT: now I think about it the indicator repeaters were a special installation for UK, Sweden and maybe one or two other countries so it doesn't surprise me that they were an afterthought. I am now at least 90% behind Howard's earlier statement.

W202 "rounded" ones fit - i have them on my estate.

you need to file a bit of the new lense in order for the 124 bulb holder to clip into though. Easy enough however.

Having spoken to Ian Walker it turns out that the last of the facelift 124 coupés came with white/colourless indicators with a 124 part number. We confirmed this on the EPC.

If you want to argue with Ian Walker or the EPC then go ahead but as far as I'm concerned that's the end of it :) . Howard was at worst 90% correct so I don't feel stupid either :)
