Dear all,

Yes its that time....need to replace both front wings on my w124 e220....rust:wallbash:

So I have been looking around and have this so far. Was just wondering
if anybody used any and what your thoughts are...thanks.

1) MB main dealer - 202 + VAT each (genuine)
2) KMS panels - 89 + VAT each (aftermarket)
3) Eurocarparts - 108 + VAT each (aftermarket)
4) Hadrian panels - 44 + VAT each (aftermarket)
5) Car parts for less - 48 + VAT each (aftermarket)

Apart from the obvious main dealer wing...has anyone used the others or know of something else that I have missed :dk:

Finally, roughly would anyone know how much it would cost to have them painted, polar white, as I plan to fit them myself at home as I heard its not a difficult job at all.

Thanks all.

Hadrians have a good reputation and at that price worth a punt. Generally the aftermarket ones are lighter/thinner and do not fit as well. The bodyshop I use says you can spend more money on labour making them fit than you save on the cost. Not a problem if you can do it yourself.

My general experience is that the after market panels do not always fit and have known others who have had to cut them. At least for the cost of the genuine MB parts they are guaranteed to fit and a better quality. There is always used from a breakers - try Mercman I have had great service from them.

I have Hadrian front wings on my coupe 8 years ago when the bodywork was done and to this day they are still spot on. My mate did fit them, then removed them to spray behind them, before refitting them to spray the car so this has probably helped keep them in good nick.

HADRIAN panels went into administration in 2011 and were taken over by Imperial crash repair parts. https://www.crashrepairparts.com/

don't know if this has effected quality or supply or its business as usual?

I sourced one from Wunderpartz following madame's unscheduled excursion into the scenery in the E250DT. I'm afraid I have yet to fit it, but it's painted up and ready to swap in. Seems very robust. Will repost after fitting.

Yes I forgot to mention that. It is through Imperial parts.
Thanks

Just fitted a Imperial panels wing this week for a customer, fit was lovely and only took as long to fit a an oem wing. They are thinner and lighter but if you primer and paint the inside of the wing and underseal before fitting I am yet to ever have a problem with them.
With regards to paint costs around £150

thanks for that barry...thats assuring.
cheers

Hi, my passenger side wing has less clearance gap then my driver side could that be a copy wing put on?

Also as a newbie on here, are the saloon wings the same as coupe? Thanks

I'm also a newbie ,it could be that the car has had a pattern wing fitted or been poorly repaired after an accident,if this was the case I'd imagine other things wouldn't fit well either headlight bumper etc ,have a good look for creases on the inner wing /front panel etc but I suspect it probably has had pattern wing fitted to cure rust (its often cheaper to buy a aftermarket wing than it is to properly repair a genuine one ) ,and yeah I think saloon and coupe wings are the same

Hopefully been of help

Thanks for the advise, I will try ain't post a pic on the passenger side, the gap is at the bottom, the rest on the wing fits fine

I do have a dent in the Wing but that's got no effect to the problem, so far I have

Had the suspension checked that's fine
Hub been checked that's fine
Wishbone been replaced still no luck

Ahh right I'm with you now ,I thought you meant the gaps from wing -bonnet or wing -door ,if the gap between wing and dr is even and same as otherwise it's defo a suspension problem

Thing I would also say the dent on the wing ,did the wheel take part of the impact of that accident ? Looks Lyk the wheel rim has had bit of a bump 2 but that might jst b pic

In had it all checked, I will have to put it back on the ramp and check it again, the car drives perfect, I think I need to get 4 wheel tracking done that might help find the problem, the car is been restored at the moment

There's a primitive but effective way to check if it suspension damaged ,make sure steering wheel straight and front wheels straight and measure frm centre of front wheel to centre of rear wheel at both sides with a tape measure if this aint the same you know u got a problem
