Hi All,

25 min drive to work this morning and the engine temp. gauge didn't get above 60 deg??? Stat? or something more sinister?

Lambo

Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open.
I had the same symptoms so changed mine and all is well.
Id be more concerned if it was overheating!!

+1 for stat. Really easy to change too.

If you've still got the plastic thermostat housing, I'd replace that at the same time. They normally crack on refitting due to age.

Could always be the temperature sensor or gauge if the heater is still keeping the interior toasty.

Not very warm air in the cabin, is it best to get a new stat from MB or aftermarket ok? it had a new water pump fit before I bought it but surely it would of had a new stat as well or could be a duffer!

Thermostat is different from water pump.

Try a site like eurocarparts. Just enter your reg no and it'll bring up all parts specifically for your car. Don't forget your 25% forum discount 2!!

Sounds like the stat. You would have thought they'd replace it when the water pump was done.

In one of my previous cars, the water pump was changed before I bought it. It took ages to warm up, but I put in down to the unusually cold winter that year and it being a diesel, but upon investigation in the spring, I found the stat missing. The last owner must have removed it to help with an overheating problem before trading it in.

I'm not saying that's your problem though
