ok so my '86 500 sec runs fine on LPG but will refuse to run on petrol. I took it to one garage and they said its the center plate that it distorted because its been back firing for so long and wanted to charge me £120 to fix.

So I taken it to another place who gave me a diagnosis of it being an expensive metering head and because because of that possibly having an injector fault also?? Im tempted to go with the first guys as they seemed confident it was the center plate...

any advice/ideas? As my car will judder alot on petrol at idle, an will barely even accelerate and usually just cuts out :(

If it runs fine on LPG, there's a problem with the petrol supply, it seems to me.
What exactly do they mean by "centre plate"? What does it do and where is it?

I wouldn't let the first lot have it just yet.....

It will be the deflection plate for the airflow meter,if the guy knows how to set them up, let him do it,but just changing it is not the solution.

Ok well im thinking it may possibly be both, I reckon I may let the first guys have a go an if they can sort it then good if they cant fix then obviously they cant charge me I suppose... Im just worried my car is a gonner :(
