Hi all, I have now got a 2011 ML350Cdi. I believe it has the Audio 20 ? 50 ? APS head unit ( its a small screen, no SD slot, Nav runs off disc 6 in the head units 6 disc changer if any of this helps ). Anyhow over the weekend its started randomly freezing for a few seconds then restarting. I noticed that the last twice it done it my iPhone X would then randomly display a X minutes to destination even though I wasnt using the phone, had all apps closed and didnt have a destination - weird.
After reading various online threads apparently some mobiles Bluetooth causes rebooting issues, ah bingo I thought that might be it, re the mobile thingy. So switched off Bluetooth, 10 minutes later the system rebooted again so I think the phone threw me a red herring.
My next task is to remove the head units fuse, however going to try this at lunch and have no manuals etc with me.
Firstly can someone tell me \ show me the fuse for the head unit and Secondly has anyone came across this issue and managed to fix it?
I emailed Comand UK with a view to replacing \ upgrading but Im not going to pay £2.5k+ for a head unit that does less than a modern day aftermarket unit at £350 that offers Apple Play etc etc etc .

Help !

It might be your nav dvd. Lots of cars are sold with a non mb copy. Eject the dvd and you should be able to tell. You should have a command ntg 2.5 which is a nice unit. Does it have a SD slot at the top?

I’ve had similar symptoms in a slightly older (but same generation) ML with COMAND. Eventually it will flatten your battery, but you won’t know when. Removing the fuse to force s complete power down may welol help, it certainly did for me.

Thanks for the replies, AndrewOL , I dont think its the 2.5, it has no SD slot. Ive had about 15 Mercs and this has to be the worst unit I've had. Its like a bargain basement cheapest option unit. The DVD is original, have the case etc and its still the 2011 disc which would have been supplied with the car when new. Bobby Dazzler Im going to try the fuse when I get 5 mins to find out which fuse it is - then take it from there.

Maybe off the mark, but when I interupted the MOST link it caused the Comand to freeze on start up. I wonder if you have a MOST loop that is being interupted.

It was a Comand 2.0, I wasn't impressed so took it out and fitted a Chinese after market.

This is often the diagnosis.

If you’re struggling to find the fuse, then the other options are to disconnect/reconnect the battery or remove/refit the head unit.

Just thought Id say the issue has been resolved and the head unit no longer restarts itself every 10 minutes - the fix was to remove all discs including disc 6 ( the navigation disc ) then re-insert. Its working like a dream. Been working fine for days now :-)
