Hi all, Just had my annual service carried out on my 2016 A200d and asked for the maps on the Comand system to be updated and when picking it up was told it had been done. The version showing on screen is Europe 2018 V9.0 which I’m pretty sure is what it went in with. I’ve seen on eBay updates to 2019 V11.0 so I’m thinking this should be the latest.

Has anyone had their Comand maps updated and if so could you let me know what version you have. I have phoned the dealers service department but the person who I dealt with won’t be back until Monday.
Many thanks in advance

Were you charged for the map PIN on the service invoice ?
If it isn't a free map update, you should have been charged.

NTG5.1 2019 V11.0 is, as you suspect the latest version.

This is the info on the Comand Onlne website for your W176 Comand.

This is the map update USB needed to update your post 2012 vehicle's COMAND map.

You will also need to buy the map PIN (licence) for your vehicle, the cost of which varies depending on the map version, so please ensure you order the correct map PIN as-well.

Please put your VIN in the order notes so that we can officially download the correct map against your vehicle's VIN. Or tell us which map version you want and we will supply that version if we have it.

You will also need the vehicle VIN when ordering the map PIN/Licence code.

Please contact us with your VIN if you need to know which map PIN/Licence code to order.

This map update USB can be used on multiple vehicles with the same COMAND version, but you will need a PIN/Licence for each vehicle for the map version you are installing.

Depending on which system your car has, we will supply the correct one of the maps below based on the VIN you send us. These are the latest versions: -

NTG4.5 2019 V18.0
NTG5*1 2019 V11.0
NTG5*2 2019 V13.0
NTG5.5 V14.0
NTG6 V8.0

Presumably the maps update was supposed to be free as the car is less than 3 years old?

If so then make sure you get it sorted with the dealer before the car turns 3 years old, because after that point the dealer will not be able to generate a free PIN code for v11 maps even if they wanted to.

Thanks for your quick replies, no I wasn’t charged for it, and as you say the car is less than 3 years old so it has the free updates and is the reason behind me wanting it updated.
It’s good to have all of the info ready for my call from the dealers on Monday and knowing that there’s an update to be done.
Cheers

Bought a E400 recetly and requested the salesman make sure Maps up to date before picking up.

Long story short had to chase salesman to no avail but spoke to service department who sorted and now my maps are 2019 V11.0

The annoying part is how little the dealers know. My wife had a lease C350e which didn’t show outside air temperature and contacted Mercedes UK who said there was an update the dealers could do. Asked the dealer to do it during the service and when picking the car up after was told there isn’t an update for this. I had to contact MBUK again and asked them to inform the dealer. The dealer came and picked the car up and got it sorted but why should we have to chase them to have our cars sorted out properly and how many customers are duped by their incompetence
Rant over!

Had my call from the Mercedes dealer telling me that the 2018 v9 is the latest update for my 2016 W176 with Comand even though I said the update was out there and available. She said they have to wait for Mercedes to send it to them, not very proactive I’m afraid. So now I need proof that the update is an official Mercedes one before I go to Mercedes UK and push them on the issue

I was told the update as to be downloaded from a MB? server and takes 24 hours
They started download on a Saturday afternoon and rang me on Monday to arrange install on my car
Install took about 4 hours

My car is a 2015 E400 not sure this makes a difference

Many thanks for that, it proves that the data exists for a Comand update, the dealer did say it gets released at different times for different models though, I will try Mercedes UK through Facebook and ask them the question.
My A Class was registered beginning of May so there’s still a bit of time left to get the free update.

Ok, so contacted MBUK customer service via email and explained what had happened and a couple of days later they replied saying that there was an update available and that the dealers Comand Software Updater was faulty and that the dealer would be in touch to resolve the issue. I was contacted yesterday by the dealer and now have it booked in for the update next week with a loan car for the day.
