Quick one chaps. Query for a new W202 (1996) owner. Upon noticing the green and red LEDs flashing, he changed the remote's batteries. He did this when the car was centrally locked in his normal parking spot.
Upon changing the batteries, the car no longer responded to the remote at all so couldn't open it remotely. Reading his manual he sees the paragraph about synchronising the remote and the car. He thus manually opened the driver's door using the key inserted into the door lock.
Sitting in the driver seat he pointed the remote at the RVM and pressed the button twice but no visual feedback from the car at all. And thus turning the ignition to position 2 within the 30 seconds did nothing to disengage the immobiliser.
So he is still unable to start the car due to the immobiliser still active.
Someone please help with this - my only comment is I usually change the batteries when the car is centrally unlocked so haven't been in this situation before.
