W202 C220 CDi any good?

Hi guys

Just woundering how good these are?...seen one to buy but the millage is 137k one owner, very good spec and its a W reg......should i touch it..? Any major problems with the millage..? its it true the C220 CDi does 50mpg? Quoted by the seller..?

Been looking for a month and no luck

I bought a 1999 (T) C220 cdi in December 2004. It had done 134k.

In the last year and eight months I have travelled approximatelly 35k miles. All I have had to replace was a MAF sensor (which is virtually a consumable these days) a few fuel pipes (which do tend to get brittle and let in air) and a new oil cooler pipe for the auto box (the pipe sits just under the radiator and tends to get a fair amount of road salt thrown at it).

All these jobs were fairly inexpensive (for a Merc anyway) and were carried out by my local indy.

Other than that it has been normal service items.

The car runs beautifully still and returns about 37mpg to work and back (a mixture of country and town driving) and over 40mpg on a run. I have never got close to 50mpg though. I think my best was about 45 - 46 on a 300 mile jaunt from Surrey to the Lake District.

I am more than happy with mine.
