I'd go genuine.
I bought one off ebay and had to grind edges off the back of it to fit, and half the mounting screw holes didn't line up. Total rubbish.
Spend the extra and get a quality one that will fit.
I bought mine off ebay for my 124. It was just the insert, I used the genuine stainless steel surround. It needed a little fiddling but cameo out a treat.
I have never seen a genuine **********e grill for a 202 I know they did one but never seen one new or second hand.
I bought mine from a German seller on E-bay, good quality item, but was a little tight to fit if I remember rightly, but again it was a grill insert.
I have heard that you can cut down a 210 one to fit with a dremel or the like these are more common than a 202 item
Quick look on e-bay reveals, complete grill already fitted to the chrome surround as it is a used item you shouldn't have any fitting issues MERCEDES C-CLASS W202 RARE ADVANTGARDE STYLE GRILL | eBay
I don’t know you but from recent events I feel you’re a reliable source when it comes to old rusty mercs. Thank you and maybe one day we will become friends
The fake inner Avantgarde grilles has issues with chrome.
White spots appear on chrome strips when the grille insert oxidize looking very nasty.
Insert has to be polished, I tried several times with Autosol, this paste didn't work very well.
You want an Avantgarde grille look for genuine part.
There are several manufacturers of aftermarket grilles, my first got white stains on chrome strips which were impossible to remove.
Then I bought a complete OE MB Avantgarde grille for my car, never had any oxidation after I replaced my grille.
Genuine stuff is so so so much better than fake ones but cost a lot of money!
