Hi all,
1998 C200 automatic, driving in heavy traffic in london on one of the very hot days last week. The car conked out as I was driving along, tried to start it but it just cranked and didn't fire. Called out the RAC but when they turned up it fired up first flick of the key. We let it idle for 20 mins no problem so drove away and it conked out again. Again it wouldn't start. Didn't want to wait until it would start and risk breaking down again so had it recovered home.
The engine wasn't over heating as far as the gauge read, the fan works and the coolant is a good strength. I had the A/C on full blast. I usually only do motorway miles so stop start traffic isn't something the car is used to.
Has anyone had this problem or think they know what it could be? All I could think of was vapour lock but didn't think that was a common problem on w202's.
