thanks dont know if has changed since facelift but after lifting gearlever suround i'm stuck
cant lift aluminium around gearlever or see any ashtray clips

Its exactly the same , open the ashtray , pull the aluminium lip towards the back of the car and this should reveal the underside of the gearbox ( gatier) and it will also let you see the ashtray lip.

On the centre of the ashtray lip , you want to pull up quite hard and the clips will free themselves. Its quite tight , don't worry about breaking it. it will come away , but remembering that the 12v socket is still attached if its the facelift.

I know its identicle on the facelift as ive just done it to my facelift car on sunday

pacemaker..... what size is the satnav unit u are going to fit?

i have a CLK and want to put my DVD player into the ashtray if possible but its standard DIN-SIZED.......
