c180
Hi, This is my first (of many) posts due to the impending purchase of our 2001 C180 coupe evo. The car is perfect apart from one thing...... it has a cassette deck. I don't even own a cassette:o !!

I am looking for an o/e cd player or even some info on which head unit will fit mine. I have looked on ebay but everybody gives different information and I am going around in circles.

Cheers in advance,
Gary.

You could either change your head unit to a single slot CD version or you can add a 6 cd autochanger into your glove box.
The unit you want is an MC3010 like this one
You will need a couple of cables also.

This thread should tell you everything you need to know.

What is a CD ?

COMAND GPS + AUX CABLE = IPOD

original MB single cd head headunits can be picked up fairly cheaply on ebay. Or you could upgrade to a new aftermarket unit

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually have an Alpine CDA-9835R cd head unit, KCA-4201 ipod adapter and CHA-S634 changer which I removed from my cooper S before I sold it and would have loved to have fitted them but I want my m/f steering wheel to work and also the display between the speedo and the rev counter! Fussy or what:confused:

So... What are the model numbers of the cd players that would fit my car? Are there any double din cd players that would fit? OR am I better just fitting my alpine stuff?

Thanks again.
Gary.

i was going to fit the comand into my 203, but it was going to cost £550 fitted (used), Been looking as i think a sat nav system with handsfree will be cool and have just purchase a kenwood DNX5220bt
its around £620 +£50 for fitting kit and £40 wiring adoptor so your steering wheel comtrol will still work, and it looks factory fitted and has all the function i need

Cheers Smatt and Tony. Gonna just try and keep the car as standard as possible I think. I will stick all of the Alpine stuff on flea-bay and buy an audio 10. Is there any particular model or just any audio 10! Will an audio 20 fit? how much would I expect to pay? Got quoted £500 from a dealers:eek:

Sorry for all of the questions:o

You need the audio 10. The audio 20 is for post face lift 2004 onwards.
Make sure you get the one for your model though there is an audio 10 for the W202 which will not fit.
The part number should start with A203

Cheers N1BBO thats exactly what I needed to know.

Muchos Gracias!:bannana:

I'm Basically Asking The Same Question

I posted a question this morning on basically the same question - upgrading my 2001 C270CDI from radio/casette to radio/CD. Thread is http://217.112.88.11/forums/showthread.php?t=60800.
This thread in another forum gives superb photos and instructions for the removal/installation of an Audio 10 :
http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13302.
Also look at www.mercupgrades.com for the listing of part numbers for pre-facelift W203 Audio 10 sets, part numbers start A203 820 for D2D sets. I'll follow your thread as well as my own - compare answers!!
There are currently 3 Audio 10 CD's on eBay - one new, one second hand and one showing PROD when turned on (I think because, to test it, he just put 12v feed to the unit instead of putting it into a car and connecting the CMS plug, but I may be wrong!). Do we agree not to bid against each other, if so, how??

Cool Chris, no sweat! Great threads:cool: I won't be bidding on ebay just yet anyway. Got a friend at a dealers who is gonna have a look for me. Failing that I will be on ebay maybe the end of next week. Let me know how you get on.
