Hi

I hav ebeen told by Mercedes that my front arms are split an d need replacing. They gace me a price!!!No need to go further there!

Anyway, does anyone have any knowledge of how much this should cost at an indy or other garage (approx).

I beleive it is the front top on both sides.

Cheers

I replaced the bushes, the arms they go into, the rose jointed bit, anti-roll bar plus its bushes and retainers on my W203 about 6 months ago - parts cost about £240 delivered, from MB Manchester (Partsspecialist on this or the "other" MB owners forum), fitted by my local garage for £115 inc VAT. Transformed the ride from clunky to magic carpet!

Look on e bay whole arm is about £50 per side i replaced lisas with these and they have been fine.

Mercs will just do the bushs as they have a proper bush removal tool this is what i would have done but as new arms are so cheap and are complete i cheated, pretty easy to do as well.

Theres 1 alloy and 1 steel arm each side, alloy one much chunkier than steel one.

What are the proper names for those arms?

My W203 had an MOT advisory (at an MB dealer) for "camber" bushes and the dealer told me they'd changed them (on ServicePlus, so no cost to me) but I can't see any bush that looks new (or indeed bolts that have been disturbed).

Have a look here:-

Front Arms

They are called control arms:-

This is what i faced:-

Do MB bushes, generally, seem to have a pretty limited life?

I've seen a fair number of posts where bushes were needed at pretty low mileages. Mine were changed at 42K and the car is pretty well only used for steady motorway runs.

What happens with hyper-mileage MB taxis - are they in the garage every few months having all the rubber bits replaced?

Wully they are truly fubared!

Bet a fair few taxis have new bushs at least once a year.

The MB bushes are now modified and are MUCH better and last. There are also AMG variants

My W202 also has MOT advisories.
Needs both front lower suspension arm rubber bushes and ball joints. Could anyone give me an estimate as to how much this will cost at an Indy please? (do I need to start a new thread for this question?)
Thanks!

Dinnie different model:)
I would try a search or do a google for parts prics, any decent mb indy should be able to give you a price as its got to be a common problem.

Have asked the same question.
They are not that expensive to replace, so guess not to bad for the money, but wouldn't mind paying extra for some heavy duty ones.

I'd just bang a pair of good used wishbones in it, the labour to change the bushes will be too much.
