W203 M271 Kompressor change

Hi there

I've got a W203 C180k with 130k miles on the clock. The supercharger is not starting to get very rattly and noisy, hence want to change this and also the breather pipes beneath the Kompressor as idling is sometimes erratic

I would be grateful for advice as to whether this is suitable for a DIYer mechanic and any tips/documents/advice you can offer. I understand you have to remove the airbox and air inlet manifold to get to the supercharge

Are you sure its the supercharger and not the infamous M271 timing chain gear worn out?

Timing chain already done at around 100k - no issues then but had it done as preventative

Have shown it to indy who confirmed noisy kompressor. Want to have a go myself if possible. Also want to replace the breather pipes beneath sc
 
^ That is good that the chain has been done.
If you are going to replace the s/c this PDF may help.

That guy certainly loves using his pointy hook thingy! :rolleyes: Singular omission from the start :eek: disconnect the battery negative terminal before removing half the engine electrical connections! Looking at that procedure video I would venture that's a job best entrusted to an MB specialist. Factoring in labour and the cost of a new kompressor you have to seriously reflect on the overall cost of such a repair on a 10 year old car with 130K on the clock . There may be other options??:dk:
