W203 Speedo swap

Hi all, again. I have a 2003 c270 and want to swap my speedo, does anyone know if i can just buy a second hand one from eBay and plug it straight in without issue, or do i have to have it coded to the car?

Mine works absolutely fine, no dead pixels or dimming etc, but the clear 'glass' front has 3 long cracks in it, I assume the previous owner pushed on the glass at some point to refit it after looking for a rattle (which i've sorted)

Better still would be just to replace the 'glass' panel, if this can be done?

You will have to correct the mileage which IIRC is stored in the speedo, ECU, Keys and possibly somewhere else.
A MB dealership wont be able to correct the mileage, but a mileage adjuster with the correct kit will be able to alter the numbers.

I'm not worried about the mileage, I don't intend on selling the car, so not an issue for me, its just numbers.

So other than the mileage, everything should all work without coding?

You should be able to split the cluster and just use the front casing. No probs with coding then.

Thats the answer i was hoping for. I think i'm going to pick up a cheap, knacked cluster and see if it can be separated.

as above splitting would be easiest, if you want to keep the milage which I suggest is the proper way, you need to get the cluster milage zero`d and then get and indie to program your options into the cluster.
