W204 NTG 4.7 Bluetooth Issues

My vehicle has Comand NTG 4.7.

Since I bought it, I have had an issue when using Bluetooth - the audio blacks out every few seconds, almost continuously.

I previously paid the Mercedes dealer to update the software, which made no difference. It's in the workshop today and, they have said that the reason I get the problem is because NTG 4.7 supports up to Android 7 but, my phone is Android 8, hence the problems.

I thought Android version doesn't matter, as Bluetooth is backwards compatible so, I am unsure if the guy speaks truth or a load of rubbish. Has anyone had the same issue and, is there a way to finally fix it?

I'm hesitant to spend £500 on an aftermarket system.

Have you tried a different phone to see if that does it too? It will tell you if its your phone or the comand.

My TV at home is android and that requires a complete power cycle/reboot frequently as it plays up. Doesnt surprise me though - its Android :-(

iPhone apparently works. To see if it is a fault with my phone or something unique to the Samsung codebase, i'd need to find a friend with potentially another Samsung S8 to test like-for-like and, someone with a Huawei/OnePlus.

I'm just asking in case there is a simple fix, settings change or kit somewhere or, if what the dealer is talking is true/untrue?
