w204 OSR Door latch issue

Hi all, apologies I hope this isn't in any way breaking forum rules or I've put this in the incorrect section.

I have a w204 with the OSR door not working off the key. Won't open or close but hear the latch/mechanism working. I think the latch has given up the ghost (not sure of the internals maybe teeth rounded off?)

I'm looking for a new latch to replace it, seems an ok job to do but every site I have knowledge in says I need to choose the correct lock as they have variants. Has anyone else has this issue? 2 numbers for left and 2 for right.

Please have a look at the photo off one site that I got when inputting my vin number.

Any help would be very appreciated

Thank you 👍Screenshot_2023-08-23-14-23-19-79_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

Don't be tempted by an aftermarket door lock.
I was, and the Part number corresponded, but the electrical connection was different.
And you won't know if its a 4 or 6 pin connector until you remove it.
Unless you are very adept, leave it to a Mercedes indy to replace. You need a special torx bit that only main dealers have in the workshop to get it out once you have drilled out rivets. Its a horrible job .My mechanic borrowed the torx bit from a pal who works in the dealership.

Go to the main dealer with your Vin# and they will provide you with the correct part.
I replaced mine with a Mercedes part in June and it was £202 including 10% discount.

Re your Part #'s, A204 730 12 35 appears in the EPC, but not A204 730 40 35.

Thank you 1st for the reply. 👍

I did end up ringing up MB with my vin and was quoted £203 inc but they didn't confirm the number when I spoke to them.

Was attempting to see if any 2nd hand genuine part was on the market 1st before having to part with th full amount.

Also thank you for the input ref the repair itself, was told they were a torx 30 size but also found a video that shows a extra long version of this is required when the repair is on the go...

Was hopefully going to save a little on this repair but sadly the more info learned the less chance of this happening.

Edit - the link below shows more numbers again think there's 4 right hand locks for the rear this time 🤣

^ The dealer won't give out the Part number before you have paid.
This is to prevent you going elsewhere and finding it cheaper.;)
I bet this is a £400+ job at the main dealer.

An ordinary long torx bit does not fit the screw that holds the actuator in place. Clever Mercedes, only they have the bit that fits to remove it.
I honestly wouldn't attempt DIYing this without having all the correct tools and replacement rivets to put it back together again.

There are around 10 different Part numbers for a o/s/r door lock actuator in the link I posted above.
But getting the Part from your Vin# is the only sure way the part will fit.

Yeah, those other numbers I found also were vin specific too.

I've contacted a local MB indy and spoke to them, he said he'd get the genuine lock as he's gets some discount and he'd fit for £70 so think that's the plan.

Shame as I like to do things myself but looks a little tricky

Thank you for all the help too mate 👍

That is an excellent price to fit the door lock.:thumb:
I paid £100 as he had to do it twice as the first one I bought didn't fit.
Sometimes, some jobs are best left to the specialists. This is one of them.

My W204 that I owned had an issue with OSR door, similar to yours. I squirted some penetrating oil into the lock mechanism and it cured it for a while, then when it happened again I repeated it over again.

Already tried... Didn't sort it even for a day... Thank you though 👍
