C320 Estate
Hi all,

I've just recently purchased a 2008 C320 CDI estate. It's been really well looked after but is missing a few things, on of which is the spare wheel.

My plan was to just pick one up from eBay, however, checking the manual it has a few sizes listed for most models it is listed as 125/90 R16 99M

For the C320 CDI it is listed as 125/80 R17 99M. However, after a bit of maths the overall diameter for both these sizes is the same. (Rim +Tyre)

It is much cheaper to get the R16 wheel, so was wondering if it would be an issue?

Thanks in advance.

It might be the size of the brake calipers on the C320, I have a 2008 C220 estate originally on 16" rims and 16" space saver spare, although I now have 17" rims on the car.

I guess they were just trying to match the rim size with those that are on the other wheels,

Yes that's a good point that I didn't think about.

However, when I bought the car it had 16 inch rims with winter tyres on so clearance doesn't seem to be an issue.

The 17 inch rims I have with summer tyres were the ones that came with the car.

A couple of years ago I had to use the spare when a rear tyre totally gave up the ghost - big split on inner sidewall, no problem (other than 50mph limit) running 16" spacesaver with other 3 wheels being 17".
