Alright guys,

Does anyone have airmatic on there w205? How is the ride? I'm thinking about adding it to my spec on my C200. I like the idea you can add lowering links too.

Hi Marlie.

To be honest I'm not sure who has Airmatic on their 205. However the reviews all rave about it being great.

Maybe look/ask around the 350e threads because I think they have this as standard because of the extra battery weight in the boot.

If you can afford the £895 then go for it, even if it means deleting any other non essential options you've picked to offset the cost (eg 19" alloys, leather, metallic etc.)

Let us know what you go for,

Ant.

It's not like the W205 ride is harsh as standard though...my S205 AMG has a lovely ride, in my opinion anyway. I don't think it's worth the extra money

Hi James,

Yes, I understand that. However a while ago when we first started looking at the 205 we tested a AMG Line demo with 19's (Run flats) without the airmatic and tbh it did seem harsh.

The only reason for my post was because most the reviews online have the airmatic fitted and they love it.

But your know more than I do because you've got one. I guess unless you test driven with and without in the same day you'd never really know.

I know they've stopped the run flats on 18's now which will help a little.

Hope you're still happy with your car Mucca. :thumb:

I have airmatic. I enjoy it. Feels likemy car has big gummy tires when i go above speed bumps. It's not a wobbly drive like my friend c5 who has a similar system, it was making feel sea sick. It's soft and comfortable and can be adjusted to a more harsh ride but still comfy. If you can afford it. Do it.

Thanks Jeromem,

I was worried about the wobbliness and making my children feel sick, so you said theres not much wobble? My dad had air in his panamera and that made me feel sick.

I used to own a Citroen C5 famed for its magic carpet ride as it had airmatic suspension. Great unit the units started to leak.

I have Airmatic on my C300h and it's just great. With the agility selector you can adjust your suspensions in different modes to match the engine and gear settings. Personally I like the extra comfort that Airmatic gives me when in "Comfort" mode (I know, the clue is in the name), but when the going gets tough I switch to "Sport" or even "Sport+" and the car gets much stiffer and reactive. Once I entered a roundabout thinking that I was still in Sport mode and... I would not do it again. It is really like having two different cars.
I would definitely recommend Airmatic, but the best thing would be for you to test a car with it and another one (possibly the same model) without it and then draw your personal conclusions.

I have it on the estate. Not that impressed tbh. Invest in the intelligent led lights instead and the spec with the pano roof. Both of which I highly rate. Initially I didn't really want the pano roof but it has been a real hit letting in light and is quite cool when open.

Thanks, does the ride feel boat like?

The first time I was in it. I felt sick, there was a definite motion issue. However I havent felt it since. The ride is good on motoways but less so on twisty roads where there us definite wallowing. I probably need to have a shot of it in the sport mode suggested but others here.
I really wouldn't have spent the money on this if I had my time again.
If you are based in central Scotland I'd be happy to show you it in action.

It's not a w205 but my w219 has airmatic and on comfort setting , my wife feels sick. However , the ride is just something else , like a magic carpet. Perhaps it has something to do with the passenger not having any actual 'contact' ( wheel and pedals ) with the car.

Sport 2 setting is what I tend to drive it on , it really works very well and the car handles like a much smaller sportier car than it really is.

I wouldn't go back to springs.

Thanks Guys,

I am a bit worried about the motion sickness issue, need to find and drive one with airmatic first.
