An unscrupulous person might 'accidentally' drive into a low brick wall and claim the whole lot on their insurance....but could also 'accidentally' write the car off 🤔 What a conundrum , modern electrical systems will be the death of most cars built today long before the bodywork or engine becomes unfit for purpose. Sign of the times . :(
Judging that to a nicety, so as not to set off the airbags, explosive bonnet hinges etc., would not feature in my driving skill set.

My mate Dave said you could take out a warranty that covers said issue and claim after a few weeks.................

My mate 'Ron' used to actually do that, lets say he worked for a big car dealer and was on first name terms ;) with the woman who worked at the warranty company, he persuaded most of his customers to take out warranties with her...let's just say he was her best customer and leave it at that....

Is it a

is it a big job and how much did you pay for all parts? Would consider doing myself but won’t be able to code them in as don’t have Xentry so would have to go to dealer
Didn’t need any parts so no coding involved.

I would suggest that you take your car to a decent Mercedes independent (such as Mercland in Nuneaton if that is close to you) and get a second opinion of what is needed. Unless the car has been accident damaged it is unfeasible that two headlights, a control unit and a radar sensor have all failed at the same time and are unrepairable......it does not pass a common sense test. You may find it is something as simple as a broken wire or connector or rodent damage to wiring.

Just took it to a specialist near me and looks like I need 2 control units and a radar sensor, bumper is going to come off to see if there is anything else that needs changing but looks like it may not cost as much now (fingers crossed)

I think mercedes were just reluctant to do anything and tried the easy way out - (clearly the not working headlight has no water in so how they can say that is beyond me)

...I've rang my warranty company too and they won't cover anything if it is water related - so I paid extra for no reason at all...

Can you get a report that says that the fault isn't water-related? If so, it might be worth having another go with the warranty company?

That’s what I’m going to try on Monday so should be sorted hopefully

think mercedes were just reluctant to do anything and wanted me to pay out to them
