The EML light came on this weekend. I plugged my iCarsoft MB V2.0 into the car, ran diagnostic and cleared the historic codes, however the EML is still on. I was hoping by clearing the codes I would be able to narrow the issue, which has not been the case.

Does anyone know why that would be?

I ran the OBDII/EOBD and it says "Codes found 2" however it does not provide any further information.

Appreciate any help on this.

Hi Pete. I have taken a photo of all the codes and it has the latest software.

There was only one current and historic fault, which came up as B1A4A13. Which is to do with Keyless GO sensor.

There were 8 others which were all historic. Cleared them again, as I had cleared them when I purchased the car.

If the EML is on, I would presume that the fault is current and returns as soon as the key is turned.. is your iCarsoft the MBII or MB2 ? the MBII is the older one and doesn’t cover as much as the newer MB2.

Not too familiar with your car . How many 'Fat Helicopter' EML's does the dash have , and what colour is it when lit ?
There is one 'Fat Helicopter ' on the dash and it is yellow when lit

This what it says at the back of the iCarsoft: MB V2.0 Is this what you mean?

When you use the OBD mode on icarsoft the first screen gives a overview and includes a line Codes Found

In order to find out what the codes are you have to select OK upon which you are presented with further options that includes a Read Codes

Note, this is icarsoft CR Max, so looks a different to the MB, but afaik the functionality is the same.

Hi all. Just a quick update. I took the car this morning to an independent garage and they diagnosed it as a NOX sensor has failed. Gutted!!

I have been reading the posts on the forum regarding NOX sensors and appears to be a known issue. I now need to take it up with Mercedes to see if they can fix the issue FOC!!

I am unsure why this was not picked up on iCarsoft. I updated this last year. I believe it was the latest one as my brother did it for me.

It's a C250d... in nine out of ten cases, the EML will be due to the AdBlue system, sadly (NOx sensor, in this case).

Are MB fixing these sensors FOC on 8 year old cars?

Is changing the Nox sensor a big deal, or am I missing something ?

Not particularly hard to do: I did it (un-necessarily as it turns out) on our Petrol C200. The sensor was in very tight, but I sprayed it a few times over a few days with penetrating oil. Due to the cable you either need a 'crows foot' type tool or a sensor removal socket, which has a slot in the side for the cable to go in. In my case I had to remove a long plastic undertray for easier access to the sensor connector and to unbolt it from the floor pan. Other than the pre-soaking with penetrating oil the job took less than half a hour to do.

From what I read on here, in some cases (though not always) when a NOx sensor failed following the 'Dieselgate' software update, MB agreed to replace the failed sensor (though not both) for free even on older cars. In this case, it is not clear if the Dieselgate software update was done, and if so, when.

Then, the OP does not say when he purchased the car of from whom, but there may still be a warranty on it (Approved Used etc).

Hi All.

So I called MB customer services and explained the issue. They sent a Mobilo technician to check (even though I explained it was diagnosed as NOX sensor failure) the chap came and confirmed it was NOX issue and reset the code as he knows it can take sometime to get a booking (MB Coventry). He also said MB won't accept his diagnostic and will charge for them to confirm.

I called MB back and explained how will this be fixed FOC and they said I need to make an appointment with MB first and they will need to check if possible. I then called MB Coventry and they confirmed they will diagnose and make a report, thereafter they will ask MB headquarter to see if this can be done.

Not sure if they will!!! Will keep you posted.

The car has a full MB service history and it is W205. I don't have warranty and purchased recently in a private sale.

Did the code come back on again after Mobilo reset it ?
Good luck with them doing a replacement sensor free of charge.
